As Texas Southmost College begins to hire personnel to reestablish its community college mission, an episode occurred Saturday night that indicates not everyone is happy that the newcomers are taking over.
According to insider reports, the UTB-TSC police department is investigating a suspicious break in into the office of Angelica M. Fuentes, previously with UTB, was hired by TSC as the dean of college preparatory studies. As the story goes, Fuentes and her staff were working late into the night Saturday to get set up and running and left late. That was the opportunity someone was waiting for, apparently, and they entered the offices and ransacked its contents. Reminiscent of the alleged Clinton White House trashing of the White house offices prior to George W. Bush taking over, this had the same earmarks of a dirty-tricks trashing of the offices of the incoming administrator.
"First of all, there was no sing of a break-in," said a source. "They went through the files and made a mess. They even used the toilets and didn't flush them, ust leaving the mess there. It was nasty."
We're in the process of acquiring a police report into the suspected break in and vandalism perpetrated against the offices of the new TSC administrator. If the story pans out the way we're told it did, it can only signify the deep anger that former UTB personnel may have toward the new college staff.
After all, a few hundred will be receiving thier pink slips in the coming month. Still, trashing a public educational facility goes beyond the pale for may of us.

We'd ask you to count on the crackerjack police force to solve this case and clamp the cuffs on the bad guys, but that would be a little like us playing tricks on you, too.
